SULLIVAN - A shoplifting suspect that allegedly ran from Wal-Mart Thursday afternoon towards Flying J was caught by a Sullivan Police officer after a short search near the North Service Road and Acid Mine Road.

Citizens reported that the man was tossing items onto the ground as he ran across the 226 overpass and then into the woods off Acid Mine Road. One Sullivan officer began searching just east of Flying J, while another scoured the open power-line cut between Acid Mine and the truck stop. The suspect peeled off his black coat and continued hiding in the thick cedars just north of the North Outer Road.

A Franklin County deputy arrived on the scene and shortly thereafter, a Sullivan Police officer caught the suspect. It is not known if the items were recovered or not.
