SULLIVAN - A call concerning a stabbing on Wednesday at the Family Motor Inn has led to a felony assault charge being filed Thursday against a Sullivan man, reports Lt. Patrick Johnson of the Sullivan Police Department.
According to a release issued this afternoon, Kevin D. Parker, 38, of Sullivan has been charged in Franklin County with assault 2nd degree. According to police, officers arrived at the Family Motor Inn on the North Outer Road at 12:44 p.m. Nov. 7, 2012 for a report of a stabbing victim. Officers soon learned that a domestic assault had occurred the previous night. The male and female involved in the domestic left Family Motor Inn Wednesday morning and walked to the nearby Super 8 motel. Officers on Wednesday afternoon located the man and woman at the motel.
It was determined that the man, Parker, had been stabbed in the arm by the woman, who is his 40-year-old girlfriend. She told police that she stabbed Parker in self-defense during the domestic assault at Family Motor Inn. Parker refused medical treatment for the stabbing injury.
Parker was charged today with 2nd degree assault and he is currently being held on $5,000 bond.
