UPDATED 8:40 p.m.: According to KSDK the four bodies found today on the property of Blue Springs Ranch south of Bourbon were victims of a murder-suicide that likely occurred sometime early Saturday. The victims were not guests of Blue Springs, but were found by a guest of the resort. Sheriff Randy Martin told KSDK said that a handgun was found at the scene.
Sheriff Martin also said that the victims were not from the Crawford County vicinity. Furthermore, the adult female's vehicle was located near the scene.
The identities of the victims will be released at a later date.
UPDATED 7:45 p.m.:Although not yet official, it is believed that the four deceased persons were not victims of a homicide, but rather a homicide-suicide. The Crawford County Sheriff's Office said the names will be released at a later date.
BOURBON - Four people were reportedly found dead today at or near Blue Springs Ranch south of Bourbon. Details remain sketchy, but unconfirmed reports indicate that one female and three children were found dead, the apparent victims of gunshot wounds.
One person that identified himself as a landowner said that police began converging on the scene shortly after 1 p.m., but he wasn't sure when the victims were discovered. An employee of the Crawford County Sheriff's Office said that Sheriff Randy Martin will issue a press release in the near future.
Reports that the bodies were discovered by a camper at Blue Springs have not been confirmed. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Crawford County Sheriff's Office, and the Crawford County Coroner's Office were on the scene.
Blue Springs Ranch and Blue Springs Conservation Access are located a few miles south of Bourbon off State Highway N.
